CCD Galery | Art Cologne

In 1986, Gudrun Wurlitzer designed a striking exhibition stand for Galerie CCD at Art Cologne. The signal-red structure of columns and frames created an architectural space in its own right while at the same time opening the stand up to the bustle of the fair.

On show were works by Walter Dahn, Günther Förg, Martin Kippenberger, Milan Kunc and Albert Oehlen. The red architecture deliberately referenced Milan Kunc’s “Ost-Pop” (East Pop), which combined the symbolism of the socialist East with Western pop and consumer culture.

In this way, the architecture itself became part of the exhibition concept, providing a distinctive framework for the different artistic positions.
